About Us

What We Do

Humane Society of Houston County, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving the citizens and animals of Houston County, Georgia. Our volunteers work tirelessly to educate the public on the importance of spaying & neutering, micro-chipping and responsible pet care. Humane Society HoCo serves the Houston County area including Warner Robins, Perry, Centerville, Bonaire, and Kathleen covering more than 376.75 square miles. We want nothing more than to save as many homeless animals as we can and find them wonderful forever families. We rely entirely on private donations, self-generated income (adoption and receiving fees), foundations, and corporations for all funding. Humane Society HoCo is not a branch of any national organization, such as the Humane Society of the United States, nor do we receive funds from any city, county, state or federal source. Every cent goes directly to helping our animals, many of whom have special needs and therefore have additional veterinary expenses.

Adoption Process

The Humane Society of Houston County, Inc. has many wonderful dogs, puppies, cats and kittens available for adoption. The adoption fees include the cost of the animal's spay or neuter, their age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormer, heartworm test (for dogs over 7 months old), FLV/FIV Combo test for cats, and microchipping.

We want to make sure that our furry friends go to loving and caring forever homes. All prospective new pet owners are asked to complete our online adoption application. We recommend that you spend 20 - 30 minutes with the pet you would like to adopt to make sure your chosen pet is the right companion for you and your family. Our volunteers will be on hand to provide valuable insight into each pet's personality and help you find a perfect match.

After you Apply

Once the application is completed, an adoption counselor will talk to you about your application and about the pet you have chosen to adopt. You must be approved by the adoption coordinator in order to adopt. After the process is complete, you and your new family member will receive your Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue Adoption Kit and begin your happily ever after!
